COMMON TECHNICAL QUESTIONS
Marine Refrigeration Repair FAQ
Can TESS attend marine refrigeration problems during a Panama call?
Yes, subject to confirmed vessel location, access, service window, technical scope, personnel and logistics. TESS can review information before arrival and define what can realistically be inspected or repaired during the call. Major or unknown failures may require a staged route beyond one transit.
What refrigeration systems does TESS support on commercial vessels?
Relevant scope may include provision rooms, cold rooms, freezer rooms, galley refrigeration, compressors, condensers, evaporators, valves, fans, controls, sensors, alarms and related plant interfaces. The confirmed scope depends on the installed system, condition and documentation.
Does TESS support fishing-vessel and trawler refrigeration systems?
TESS can assess relevant fish-hold refrigeration, freezer systems, cold rooms and associated plant on fishing vessels and trawlers. Because preservation technology varies, TESS first confirms the installed arrangement, required duty, alarms, temperatures and available technical information.
Does TESS support reefer and refrigerated-cargo vessel refrigeration?
TESS can review vessel refrigeration plant and refrigerated-cargo interfaces according to the installed system and required work. This page is not limited to container reefer units; it addresses onboard refrigeration plant, cold storage and related vessel systems.
Can TESS repair cold rooms, freezer rooms and provision refrigeration?
Yes, where technically applicable. The review may include evaporators, fans, defrost, drains, doors and seals, controls, sensors and the connected compressor and condenser plant before a repair or replacement route is defined.
Can TESS troubleshoot compressors, evaporators, condensers and controls?
TESS can assess these components within the complete refrigeration system. The process uses inspection, safe operating measurements, alarm and control review, manufacturer information and verification of physical response before replacement decisions are made.
Does TESS provide refrigeration support for large yachts and superyachts in Panama?
Yes, for professional motor and sailing yachts of approximately 20 m and above. Scope may include galley refrigeration, cold rooms, freezer rooms, specialty refrigeration, compressors, controls, replacement, retrofit and commissioning—not small-boat domestic appliance repair.
Can TESS modernize or replace larger vessel refrigeration systems?
Yes. TESS can define modernization around capacity, space, access, heat rejection, piping, electrical supply, controls, equipment integration and commissioning. Larger work can be coordinated through turnkey, refit, dry-dock and engineering services.
What information should we send before refrigeration attendance?
Send the vessel name and type, location, ETA, affected system, symptoms, alarms, current temperatures and contact details. Manufacturer, model, refrigerant, nameplates, photographs, manuals, drawings and earlier reports are helpful when available.
Can refrigeration repair be integrated into a larger refit, dry-dock or turnkey project?
Yes. When the work includes major equipment replacement, piping, electrical, control, insulation, structural or commissioning interfaces, TESS can integrate the refrigeration scope into a broader technical programme.
